Are Sainsbury’s Jelly Beans Vegan?

The short answer is; Maybe. Let me explain:

Sainsbury’s Jelly Beans 200g might be vegan, but we have a couple of concerns.

The product listing on Sainsbury’s website states that Sainsbury’s Jelly Beans are only vegetarian. They are usually good at marking their products vegan/vegetarian so the fact they haven’t said this is vegan, is a concern.

We checked the list of ingredients and while all ingredients are typically vegan, some ingredients are a grey area:

  1. Sugar: May be processed with bone char, making it non-vegan. This is not clear for this product.
  2. Flavourings: This is a grey area; some flavourings can be animal-derived. It’s not clear what flavourings have been used here.
