Are Sainsbury’s Peppermint Cremes Vegan?

The short answer is; maybe. Let me explain:

Sainsbury’s Peppermint Cremes 175g might be vegan but this is not clear. We have a couple of concerns.

The product listing on Sainsbury’s website doesn’t mention anything about Sainsbury’s Peppermint Cremes being vegan or vegetarian. They are usually good at marking their products vegan/vegetarian so the fact they haven’t for this is a concern.

We checked the list of ingredients and while all ingredients are typically vegan, some ingredients are a grey area:

  1. Sugar: May be processed with bone char, making it non-vegan. This is not clear for this product.
  2. Glycerine: Can be vegan, but it depends on the source. Glycerine can be derived from either plant or animal sources. This is also not clear in this case.
